Subject line kind of tells the story. I am finally going to order a press and decided upon the forster. I think I have to order their locking rings for each RCBS die that I have.?? I would like information from those of you that are reloading with the co-ax as to what I might want to order at the same time. I am not a real experienced loader (been using a friends press and equipment). Do I need to order an extra set of "s" jaws? I will be reloading for the 444, 35rem., 32 win. spcl, 30-30 and 30-06.
Really, any information on this press would be much appreciated. Thanks! JOHN
I'm sure you'll enjoy the Co-Ax press as well as I do mine.
If you have no present need for the "LS" jaws, then that is something that can come later.
You might consider ordering the shell holder adapter plate. This plate allows the use of standard shell holders that fit most presses. It holds the cases in the same manner as a regular press, as long as you have the shell holders for them.
The regular die rings will work in the press, just that some have flats on the edges that don't allow the ball detent to be tightened down on them to hold the die firmly in the press. I ordered extra rings for all my dies of recent vintage that have the rings with wrench flats, instead of the older round type. The older ones can be tightened down on.
A word of caution here - the tiny springs (4 of them) under the shell holding jaws are under pressure even when the jaws are closed. If removing the jaws from the press, be sure to keep the bottom steel plate firmly pressed against the bottom of the jaws to keep the little springs from flying loose and into all the hidden recesses of the reloading area! (I've had to order a couple sets of replacement springs!)

Had to chuckle about those little springs. There are times that I would like to enclose me and the press in a big plastic bag to insure that I don't loose them.
I've had a Co-Ax press for 20 years and have yet to buy a set of rings. Redding dies come with rings that work, old Lyman dies also, old RCBS. Any round locking ring will do the job.
I like my Co-Ax press so much that I don't do my depriming on that press. I don't want the grit/glass getting into the shell holder and hinges. I use a Lee decapping die and a small RCBS press just for that purpose.

The Co-Ax is a nice press but you need to pay attention to the length of throw. If you intend to load long cartridges like the 300 Win Mag or any of the Ultra Mag stuff you will be somewhat frustrated with the Co-Ax, especially if you have big hands. Even the 45-70 was troublesome. I had one but traded it away in favor of the Redding Ultramag, much longer throw and much better suited to the stuff I hand load, for the cartridges you listed the Co-Ax will do fine.
Yes, buy Forster rings for all the dies you intend to use. I have quite a few Redding dies, the rings fit the Co-Ax but not as well as the Forster rings. I also like the split feature of the Forster die rings over the set-screw fitting on the Redding.
Good luck.
