Roy Chapman Andrews was the hunter / taxidermist who collected all those big game mounts at NY City Metropolitan Museum of Natural History. He hunted all over the world.

Roy also led the first motorized modern explorations into the Gobi Desert. He had many adventures with bandits and Mongol tribesmen.

His great book available through inter-library loan programs is titled, This Business of Exploring.

I have an original first edition of chapman's book in our mountain cabin. I've probably read it several times over the past fifty or so years. Despite having been published over eighty years past, his great adventures are as compelling now as they ever were. I highly recommend it. :D

I just finished "Ends of the Earth" and "Across Mongolian Plains" by Roy Chapman Andrews. What fantastic reads they are! Ends of the Earth is more about his early exploration, not too much about hunting, except whale hunting, but a fascinating read. Across Mongolian Plains had more hunting and is one of my favorite books.
