Well, I bought the CZ. Two of them, my wife got one also.
The model 452 Silhouette has a black synthetic stock, metal finish is a low luster blue and the thin barrel has no open sights.
Machine work is pretty good, bolts are smooth and the triggers.........well, they need a little work but not bad for factory. Break clean once you take up all the slack.
Went the cheapo route on scopes. Installed a pair of low priced Bushnell 3x9x32 in Warne mounts.
A quick trip to the range after work saw 25 rounds made a big 1 inch cluster at 25 yards with CCI ammo. Then I started shooting empty 45 ACP cases off the top of the target stand. ( it's not a sin...they were aluminum Blazer cases). Averaged about 3 out of 5 hits on those little cases with an elbow resting on the table.
Next time out, I'll take my rifle rest and a few different brands of ammo. All in all, CZ makes a pretty good rifle. I would suggest them to anyone looking for a quality made, mid-priced .22.

Glad to see you like your CZ 452. I have three (all the European stock variant). I really like the open sights on these. The trigger can be smoothed and lightened with a trigger kit available from Eric Brooks. If you are interested, PM me and I'll get you the link.
Accuracy improves as you shoot it more and you are off to a good start.

No doubt there are several excellent .22's out there but my experience so far tells me I'm gonna like the CZ just fine.
I looked at a few, the Ruger was nice, almost got one but I really wanted to try CZ and it was cheaper.
I looked at Kimber, the only model my dealer had was the SuperAmerica. It is very nice, has the feel of a beautiful woman that you just know is gonna take all your money and run off with your best friend.
Fullchoke: Thanks for the offer on the web link. I checked Eric Brooks and found the CZ accessory page. I'll have to see what goodies I can find there.
I guess old age has arrived for me. I have more hair in places that don't need it, less hair in places that do and I have started to really appreciate the low recoil fun of .22's.

I would like to get a CZ 452 in the .17HMR but they are a little pricy for me! Good rifles though I reckon

Hay Lumberjak I just picked up a 452 Lux used at my local gun store. It looks just like new.
I Wasn't sure after reading all the posts in rimfire central what to do about rings and a scope. Took the 2-7 Cabelas shotgun/black powder scope I had on my sons 10-22 with a set of $6.00 walmart .22 scope mount rings and screwed them on the 11mm mount rails on the Lux. They fit perfectly. I put the 33mm objective right up next to the rear sight. It seems to have plenty of eye relief and the bolt clears with no problems.
Once I got on the range I bore sighted the scope. At 25 yards the first five rounds went into a dime sized hole. The next three groups ran about 1/2 inch.
I moved out to 50 yards and made three 1 inch groups. At 100 it grouped about 1 3/4 inch. This is with the cheapest ammo I could get a Walmart.
I think I am really gonna like this gun. So far I have done nothing to it, but, I think I will put a Brooks trigger kit in it. I have heard nothing but good things about that kit. It is $14.00.
I found that with the $69.00 scope and the $6.00 rings you can scope, ring and shoot this fine rifle without the expense that a lot of the folks I'm reading about go to.
By the way I paid $200 for the Lux, 27 dollars less than the stainless 22 inch bbl 10-22 I bought at Walmart for my son.
Now I got to go and steal the other Cabelas 2-7 off my black powder rifle and put it back on my sons 10-22 before he notices.

Sounds like you made a good buy! They are nice guns aren't they?
We agree on scopes. Everyone has their preference but I see no practical reason to put a high-end scope on a .22. For a long shootin varmint rifle where high magnification and clarity are a must, scope quality becomes a factor. I can't hit much past a 100 yards with a .22 anyway so the cheap scopes work for me. As far as I know, snakes are not shamed by being in the crosshairs of a Bushnell and they still make it to snake heaven.
I bet if you let your son shoot that Lux, he might approve the transplant you made.
Let me know if ya swap triggers. Fullchoke already suggested the Brooks unit, I'm gonna tinker with mine awhile before I change it.
I started out a poor farm boy in the Texas Panhandle, been workin since I could crawl. Now, I'm a poor city boy with a cheap scope....just has to be a movie in there somewhere.
All kidding aside, enjoy the CZ.

Lumberjak I just ordered one of Brooks trigger kits. I've got a pretty good trigger, but, for $14 at my door I just couldn't pass it up. I'll let you know how it works out for me. Good shooting

Just bought a CZ 452 American and noticed the bolt is very notchy when sliding in and pushing the bolt down and also i noticed the safety needs a lot of force to push it on is this normal when they are new?

Lumberjak, Well took your suggestion and let my son shoot that CZ yesterday. You wouldn't want to trade one of yours for a ruger? All kidding aside looks like I'm in the market for another one. I sure like the looks of that full stocked one. Guess I will start looking.
Havn't got Brooks trigger kit I ordered, He is running a little behind on his orders. He was nice enough to drop me an email and let me know he would not be shipping til this Friday. The trigger on mine is really nice now. can not emagine what it will do with the kit in it.
Took it out yesterday and I just can't believe how well it shoots compared to my Rugers. Only bad thing is stopping to reload the clip.
Good shooting and God bless

They will smooth-up with use. Mine was the one on display, it had been handled and played with enough that it was noticably smoother than my wife's which was new-in-box.
I disassembled hers first and after polishing all the bolt pieces, especially the safety, it worked much better.
I do this to all new guns. A good cleaning as well as an inspection not only gets em ready to shoot, it will also reveal any warranty issues that might not have been obvious.
faucettb: Trade for a Ruger huh? Can't knock the Rugers but I better keep the CZ for awhile.
I haven't had a chance to work on my triggers yet. Think I will wait and see what you say about the kit when you get it. Everything I have heard so far says the Brooks' kit is the way to go.

Joined the club a few weeks ago on the advice of some folks here. I'm getting real fond of the 452 Varmint (.22). With a Bushnell Trophy 4-12x40 on high Warnke mounts. it's dead on@25 yds with any ammo; at 50 it seems to like most "target" stuff OK. Still haven't achieved the 0.5" @ 50 yds, but have only been to the range once. Have a target stock on order from Richards. The stock stock is nice with good checkering; I just need something bigger.
