A lady gave me a RR 1911 the other day. The only marking on it are "Remington Rand Syracuse N.Y. " on the slide and "Property of the United States, No. 201XXX." on the right side of the frame.

She also gave me the paperwork when her father bought it from the Red River Arsenal, Texarkana, Texas. He paid a whopping $12.50 for it.

Can anyone tell me the value, and any other information about the gun. I was told that it was a refurb from Red River Arsenal. The slide is parkerized and the frame appears to be original.

Thanks,

Pat

The serial number puts it in the late 1944 range, and is in the Remington-Rand block. So the frame and slide match. There's much more detail here.

That's a good old pistol.
