So I have a Ruger .22 "Standard" pistol, and I purchased online 2 Ruger "Mk-I" magazines.
They're the same 9 shot capacity as the "Standard" magazine, but the little spring knob thingy for pulling down the spring is on the WRONG SIDE of the magazine and thus will not load into the "standard".
Is it possible to switch it to the other side or do I need a special "Standard" magazine?

If the magazine has a small round cut-out on both sides about 1-1/2" up from the bottom, then the pin should be able to be reversed.
Dpress the follower to the bottom of the mag., lining up the thumb button with the round cut-out. Use a nail-file or similar flat object(through the slot in the length of the magazine), to hold the button in allignment for removal. Then simply install it from the other side.
This is also the proper way to take down the mag for cleaning.

There IS the round cut-out on the bottom, but the follower cannot be depressed far enough to line it up with the round cut out.
Here's some photos.
First is both. The one on the right is the "good" original, the one on the left the NEW one.
Second one is close up.
3rd is the new mag
4th is showing how far I can depress the spring.

Saint,
Haven't owned a MK I or II in years so don't have a mag handy. Can you remove the floorplate on the new mag. It would seem once removed and you could move the follower down.

Ha! I was arguing about how the "standard" and the MKI are dirrerent with my gunsmith, when I ordered more clips.
He told me the "standard" and the MKI are the same. I replyed that it says "STANDARD" on the pistol frame, not MKI. He then told me o look for MKI. ARRGGGHHH!!!!!!! It was like the "Whos on first?" W/H Abbot & Costelo.
I never used the new clips I ordered yet Im glad I saw this thread, before I had to use one.
Thanks
