Years ago I made .577 Snider ammo from .24ga. brass shells....wasn't a hard process, just a trim job.

So...looking through Graf & Sons catalogue, noticed they have Magtech 24ga. brass cases (Berdan primed) and the Berdan primers to go along with them....at $13.39 a box of 25, seems like it would be worth giving the old way another try.

--------
Also notice 28gr. and 32ga. brass shells (both Berdan)....figure as I'm going to order the 12ga. brass shells (those can be had primed for boxer large pistol primers, but as the odd-balls are all berdan primed, will order the 12ga. in Berdan as well and order the primers along with them), may as well pick up a box of each of the "odd balls" just in case...as the past has prooved, they will find a use.

24 guage brass trimmed & converted to #209 shotgun primers is available from "Coyote" at "Momsoldguns". Check out link http://www.oldyoti.com/moulds.htm . Only bother doing it yourself is setting up to deprime the berdan primers.
The old Sniders are great fun to shoot! The site to drop in on is http://pub7.ezboard.com/bbritishmilitariaforums .
Lotsa info & chat on the Snider.

that seems a good price for the cases. And yes converting to 209 primers can be done. I have done this to my Kynoch cases and it works well.

In some rifles the 24ga rim will slip off the extractor, the rim on the 577 Snider case is wider and not rounded. But it is still workable.

Coyote does stock these magtech brass converted to 209 primers, but he is injured right now, and very behind in orders so don't rely on that right now.
