Does anyone know the address of the Remington Arms website? I have recently tried www.remington.com without success. Are they just temporarily offline? Any help appreciated.

This is frustrating! I tried this morning, and still get "currently unavailable or experiencing technical difficulties." I don't know what the problem is. I can get anything else. Thanks for the reply.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's part of the Akamai denial-of-service attack. Microsoft, Apple, Google, Yahoo, and lots of other big companies rely on Akamai for distributed name servers and other internet services. Akamai is being attacked by *%&&^$s. Of course, it could also simply be Remington taking their server down for maintenance or any mundane reasons. I really don't think Remington relys on e-commerce, so they're probably pretty relaxed about interrupting service.

Tried their site and it worked fine. Have to disable the Norton security to view these sites. Shooters forum is not blocked but Ruger is, as are all manufacturers. Violence/guns are permanently in their parental control list. The kids use this computer so we are very careful about access. It is a pain but protecting against viruses/worms is worth it.

Try ZoneAlarm. It's easy to set the security on a per-site basis, and you're still protected if that site gets hacked.

If you have to disable the product to view a site, then it's not very useful, IMHO. There ought to be a setting in Norton to let you override the site lock-out. If there isn't, dump their product - what if you forget to turn it back on??? Not good.... I would be very surprised if there isn't some more advanced configuration so you can still leave it running & select which sites you can view.

I'd give Norton an earful about their classification system, personally.

Guys,

Thanks for the input. I had not thought of security software causing the problem. I'm not very well versed on the "ins-and-outs" of computers. I'll get my son to help...... :D
