Has anyone here checked out the new octagonal barrel, color case-hardened 94? It lists for over $800...makes me wonder if it is a Miroku model by the price and octagonal barrel.

I have seen it on the winchester web site. If your not paying attention you could miss it as you need to flick it on the second page.
For the price, I would suspect the rifle was made in Japan.I have a browning that was made in Miroku, and the quality is sure built in
Compairing the rifle to the Marlin 94, your getting more for your dollar.

They look really nice. I think it would be great to have one in .45 LC. After seeing that rifle, i think it would be way nicer than the nra centennial musket, and way more useful and handy!

The 94s are made in the States.
A friend has the Octagon Trails End with the blued receiver (made up for Davidson's) fine looking gun and a dandy shooter. Shop around, you needn't pay MSRP for one.

I think the limited edition Trails End is a completely different gun from the blued receiver type you have seen. Here's the link:
http://www.winchesterguns.com/prodinfo/catalog/detail.asp?cat_id=534&type_id=109&cat=003C
They are the same gun except for the C/C Vs the Blued receiver.
The blued guns are just a run they did for Davidsons, same
gun.

Pretty lookin'
Now has any one shot one?
I would be intersted in how they levered and the trigger pull. Then what goes the bore slug out to?
Hmmm .awful pretty lookin ------
I shot my friends when he purchased it, very stiff action at first, smoothed up nicely by the end of the shooting session.
I don't believe he slugged the bore, we were using a number of different brands of ammo and some of my reloads with 275 Keith's sized at .453. Seemed to be a very accurate gun during this informal shoot.
If they would offer this rifle in 30/30, I might have to have one.
Update,
Heard from a distributor, that they will be offered in 30/30, 38/55 and 25/35. I better start saving.

Does any one know if they sport a tang safety?
If we could have things as they were without the farm thing.
38-55? Will it be available with the 20" bbl? Can't wait.
Harry, Mike...
As far as I know, they will be like the current Trails End.

Where are you getting your information?
I would want a rifle just as the one pictured.
I already have a winchester 94 in 30/30. Now with a Octagon barrel and a curved stock/ case hardened reciever, tuned action , I be looking for the money to buy it.
Other wise let us have another 1886 or another 71.
How say you?
Well, I hope I spell this right, Lipsy's?
I may have the distributors name completely wrong though, anyway, the fellas name is Jason Freeland and his info came from Winchester. He's been right every time.
I say another '86 or 71 would be great, in addition to the 94s. I have five 30WCF an '86 and need a 38/55 or 25/35. ;)

:(
Some guys have all the luck."A" 71 or '86 to me would be just perfect. To get one ya need to be willin' to sell your first born . Then I have only seen one once at a gun show that was the fancy grade. I just need the plain hunting model.
Oh! I am just a poor boy.

Man o man, that new Trails End color cased, looks like the perfect 94. It just looks right. Wouldnt mind having one myself, just wish they were chambered in 30/30 too. That is a right dandy shooting iron.

A local shop has one, and I reallt liked it, but it has the TANG safety which would prevent mounting a Lyman - type sight on it. Fine looking firearm, none the less -- price on it is a tad more than $800.
