I'm wanting to use the Rem 180grSJHP in my .357 Cowboy Limited for hunting and have performed the lifter alteration because the cartridge jammed coming out of the magazine. I removed about 0.09" from the cartidge stop on the lifter. It now feeds from the magazine just fine, but usually hits the rear of the barrel just below the chamber as it is pushed forward by the bolt. It seems as if the bolt starts pushing before the lifter has raised the cartridge high enough to start into the chamber. Once in a while, if I work the lever back and forth, the lifter seems to go higher and the cartridge will feed into the chamber. Any ideas or solutions would be greatly appreciated as that is the bullet I would really like to use. Thanks!

This is a guess on my part, one thing you may try is to take some JB Weld build up the lifter enough to retime the cycle so it is high enough when the bolt comes forward. The JB Weld would be easy to remove and if it works replace with weld or braze. Take care and have fun. Swany

Thanks for that idea. I will probably, first, try swapping the lifter with the one in my 1894C and see how it works. Thanks again.
