Yup -

Run-of-the-mill high velocity .22LR ammo. Nothing outstanding.

Remington Thunderbolt .22 ammo is sold at promotional prices in shopping center chain stores. The same is true for Winchester Wildcat and Federal Lightning .22 ammo. I buy whatever is on sale and shoot it in various .22 rifles. Some of my rifles like Thunderbolt ammo and some prefer other brands. Never had a problem with any of these promotional products. All the best...

My Remington 597 seems to like the Thunderbolt.

I remember shooting bricks of these when I was young. They always hit what I aimed at with my dad's winchester autoloader, and I don't remember much (if any) dud ammo. I bought 2 boxes a couple of months back and sometime in the last 15 years or so they changed the bullet shape to a round nose. I remember a different shape with a flat point when I was young. These seemed to do great although I did have to adjust my iron sights a bit from the ammo it was sighted in with.

My 10/22 shoots Thunderbolts pretty good. I just bought 5000 rounds at Dicks Sporting Goods for $7.98 a brick.

I want to try WW Wildcats too. Some people report good results with those.

Hi guys,

I tried a brick around 10 years ago and found them to be really dirty and fouled the barrel with lead.

That was ten years ago and I don`t know if they did anything with them since but I didn`t like them .

I did an experiment with this ammo....measured the rim thickness of a brick and recorded the results...lots of variation....I find that this results in flyers. OK for plinking though

Remember one thing about shooting rimfire ammo ! You will have to clean the barrel when switching to a differeny brand , as the fouling in the barrel is different and you won't get your best groups until the old fouling is shot ! JAGG
