I just bought a new Redhawk 7.5 scope model which comes with rings. I would like to use my Tasco reddot on it but it requires 30mm rings. Ruger supplies 20mm rings. I have a sbh with a Nikon 2x-20mm scope, I would like a larger glass to look threw. Any suggestions, as I would like a 30mm glass, red dot or scope, but to be able to hook up to the rh with out a rail or other mounts.

Get ahold of the Ruger factory - they'll exchange the rings out for your free of charge.

Jim,
I have a Holosight on my Redhawk and I love. I had my smith drill the frame so I could put a Weaver rail on it. It works great. I like the red-dot (holographic-type) sight better because you can see around the sides better in low light. I can get an "index" on the target before I get ready to shoot. Mine is the older model holosight. Them make a smaller/lighter model now. It has held up to full-power 44 loads for about 6 years. I have only had to change the batteries 2 as I only cut it on when I am ready to shoot. Each time I have changed the batteries, the zero has been dead-on. Fortunately, I have never had the batteries "die" on me. I notice they are getting dim and replace them. I always keep an extra set on my holster. Hope this helps.

If you contact Strum-Ruger, they will exchange the 20mm rings out for 30mm rings.

Several ring mfgr's sell their version of Ruger rings and in the 30mm size. You can check with Brownell's, Midway, Natchez, Midsouth Shooters Supply, etc.
