I hate hearing that. I guess somebody has to go and back when it was my turn I didn't mind but I know it was tough on my parents. As a parent now, I think this would be about as tough as it gets. Best wishes and Linda and I will keep him and Mom and Dad in our prayers.

As a former First Sgt of a Combat Engineer Unit I wish him the best.. It is a very important and often over looked job that the Engineers do.

My thought are with your son and all the men and women in the armed forces.

It looks like my step-son's unit (regular air force) will be transfered soon too..

Greatly appreciated, folks. The unit he was transfered out of already deployed, he was set to go but was left behind, and then transfered. He was ready to go then, his 1st Sgt called and told hinm his orders would come "anytime", but it never happened. He was to the point he didn't care if he went or stayed, just wanted to know which way to jump. Scuttlebutt says Kuwait for at least several months, than Iraq.
