Been busy with other things for the last ten years. Where did Redfield go, what happened? Thought they made a decent product, at least good enough to remain in business!
Went out of business, left the county and state where they were located (Colorado) one heck of an environmental mess to clean up. Omark Industries took over the name and is building the scopes off shore and importing back to US. Omark also handles the Weaver line of scopes.
The "new" Redfield will honor their warantees, but not the older Redfields made in Colorado.

Thanks for the info, I only read one gun rag, the American Rifleman. Haven't seen any adds for Redfield since I don't know when.
Just read another thread, seems the quality of the new Redfields has gone to "**** in a hand basket".
All good things must come to an end.
Thanks,
Hoopie
Still have a couple of the older Redfields - a 3x9 Lo Profile, Widefield and a 1 3/4 x 6 that's also a Widefield. The lower powered scope had to be sent to a repairman in Tulsa last year for repairs after being mounted on the 45-70.
Some years ago, had two 3x9 scopes that were damaged from mounting on a rifle with defective scope mounts. One was a Redfield and the other a Leupold VXII. Sent both to their respective mfg'rs for repair. Redfield sent back a repair order listing what was wrong and a $60 repair fee. Leupold not only repaired the scope, but upgraded to their present offerings and sent it back free of charge and a note thanking me for being a customer.
Guess which scope brand graces most of my rifles now?! :D

When I was knee high to a grasshopper a Redfield scope mounted in Redfield Jr. mounts was THE way to go, if you had the money.
Still have one 3X9 Widefield on a Remington 700BDL, guess I'd better not damage it.

Ddub........After a very lengthy wait, I finally got back my 2 scopes from the so called Redfield repair shop, known as ABO.
I first called ABO and let them know I did have two REDFIELD SCOPES I would like to have repaired and that they were 1960's vintage. I was told NO PROBLEM, just send them and we will repair them. Well, after several phone calls and months going by, if finally got back my 2x7 and 4x12 that I had sent them, only in worse shape than I sent them.
They tried to tell me first off, after receiving those scopes, that they were TO OLD and couldn't be repaired. Then tried to put the sales pitch on me to trade them in on a NEW (only they are rebuilt scopes!) Redfield scope, which they have a price set that is higher than I could by a brand new Leupold at the store. I was also told during this time, that the 4 x 12 could NOT be repaired due to a bent tube. Then later on down the road, they told me that it could be fixed for an additional $35 dollars. I told them "no thanks" ship them back, only it took a very long time and over 5 long distance phone calls, speaking with someone who does not speak the English language very well. You could understand a 3 year old better as a matter of fact.
I spent money for insurance and postage, plus the $26 dollars a piece for each scope, to have them repaired. Only the 4x12 needed repairing, however I figured why not send both of them. Well it cost me well over $75 dollars total, to find out that ABO is not what it is made out to be. They sent my scopes back and sent me a check finally for $36 dollars.
All I can say about REDFIELD SCOPES & ABO repair company in Florida is BUYER BEWARE!!!
Sorry to hear of your problems trying to get the scopes fixed, 2Bits -
Guess the old addage "Buyer Beware" holds true. It's a shame about the older Redfields because they were once top-of-the-line optics. Things began to change for the worse when some employees left them and formed Burris.
Still can't beat the Leupold sales and service - that's one company that really stand in back of their product and will bend over backwards for the customer.
