Does anyone know what is the best tachtical style bolt action .308 for long range target shooting? We're looking at HS Precision HTR, Blaser R93 LRS2, Sako TRG22, FN A1a, all of wich should make very good target units. We would also like to stay in the $2000 range or close to it. It must hold a 1/2" group or better @ 100 yards. Any thoughts?

I would look here it's a tad over your limit but you get Badger Rings and Bases with thr Rifle purchase and these he has ready to ship! I can vouch for the accuracy..it will hold 1/2 min on a bad day! ...First day out during Break-in I fired a 5 shot group @ 100 yds that was .244 (1/4")

KAC1345, they look pretty nice and I take it you have one. How does the quality stack up to HS Pr., FN, SAKO, etc.? About the only thing I don't like about it is, I wish it used a pre 64 Mod. 70 with control feed action instead of the Rem.

Sorry I have been gone for a few days ...I do have one and in my opinion H.S. or any of the others do not even come close to these! just the bedding job alone is just amazing! I would call George and see what he says about tha action ..he will and can do anything you want. The only other Custom Builder I would reccomend is H.D. Rifles but I am so pleased with G.A. Precisions work I just ordered another Rifle from him (.338 Lapua) in a McMillan A5 Stock. This is juat my oppinion I"m sure there are other custom builders out there that build great rifles but... when you find one you trust and you know builds them right you tend to stick with them...I'm not sure if you go to any of tha Tactical Boards but you will find quit a bit on Georges rifle and HD rifles...go to Snipershide, or Sniperspardise, snipercountry. that should give you some reading on custom .308's by far my fav is Snipershide.
