My theory is that the bore in a 41 mag Marlin is a couple thousandths larger than 41 mag pistol bores. This would explain why a lot of 41 Marlin's do not shoot jacketed bullets very well and why just about all 41 Marlins shoot cast bullets very well. I do not have a 41 pistol to measure the bore. If some one that has both would measure the bores and report back, we would have data to prove or disprove the theory.

I posted this same theory on another forum. I man slugged and measured the bore in a 41 Blackhawk and 41 Marlin. They are basicly the same. Another theory shot down.

I was gonna say. My old "S" was a great shooter and my current "FG" is on the same track even with minimal load development. Using Federals 210's and the standard open sights, I can get about 2.5" out to 75 yards. For me and my vision, that's terrific. Scope it and the groups would likely be half that.
