Gentlemen, I own a S&W M629-3, 5" Classic revolver. I have been shooting the Federal Cast Core 300 grain bullet factory ammo in it very successfully. I want to duplicate this load (Chrony's 1185 average FPS in my revolver). Which BearTooth bullet will most closely match the Federal bullet? Beartooth doesn't show a photo for the 300gr WFNGC, but I am thinking that may be the closest bullet they make. Also, for you who have already done this, which bullet diameter worked best in your S&W M629; the .429 or the .430? I normally load with Alliant 2400 for my .45 Colt (Ruger's) and .357 Mags (Colt Python and S&W M28-2) and plan to start with this same powder for this .44 Mag load - anyone done this recipe before have any advice? Thanks in advance, Odessa

The Beartooth WFNGC will be very close if not identical to the Cast Core projectile. When I was loading for the .44, I seemed to get best results in a couple of S&W's and a Ruger with .430" diameter. 2400 is an excellent choice for the .44 Magnum. Unfortunately, I can't comment on it and the 300-grain bullet weight. I only used it with 200's and 240's.

Thank you Bill, I just entered an order for 300 each of Beartooth's 300 grain WFNGC in the .430 dia. Odessa
ps I'll post later and let you know how the load works up and what powder I end up with - going to start with 2400 and then I will try some H110 I already have.
