I spied a few 16" stainless ones on gunbroker.com for close to $500, with the HiViz sights. Blue 16" models are few and far between, but should be around $65 cheaper. My plain jane 20" blue was $320. I can cut and crown to any length I want for less than the difference in price, although any future collector value (IMO unlikely) will be less than factory.

Sounds painful. I've got to ask, have you fired a .454 in a light rifle? The recoil can be pretty severe......

Not unlike a .300 Magnum, definately more push than a 30-06... That recoil pad is a must-have. I'm used to heavy 3" 12 gauge loads and recoil doesn't seem to bother me as much as most, but muzzle blast is what wears me out. This is the main reason I'm leary of trimming the tube any shorter.

Take a H&R single bbl. 12ga. and cut it to about 20 or 21 inches. The weight will be about the same as a 16" .454 Puma. Fire a full power 12ga. load out of it. The recoil will be about the same. Hey, if you can handle a 12ga. you can handle a .454 16" puma. I've had one for several months and put about 200 rds. through it. Thats mostly with full power loads.( The 360 grainers thump a bit !!) Go ahead, have fun shootin' them big boys.-------GOOD SHOOTIN'----pruhdlr

I agree with MikeG- if your into recoil get a 16" 454!! God the 20" is about to "light" for the 454 with heavy loads!! But if you like getting wacked about go for it!!

Nice thing is that you can shoot .45Colt most of the time if you wish to and just shoot the occasional .454 for kicks 'n' giggles or if you must have the power. I don't own one, but am seriously considering buying one to use, mostly, in .45Colt.

• Hi-Viz sights (2 bright green dots at rear one bright red dot front)
• Two loading ports (receiver & forward end of mag tube - very nice!)
• 16" - remarkable maneuverability & handling
• Vented, rubber butt pad helps tame the .454 recoil nicely
• black fine grain hardwood looks like ebony against the stainless
• stainless steel for easy care
• fires full range of low cost cowboy .45Colt loads right up to Corbon .45Colt JHP and the really hot .454 rounds - extremely versatile chambering!
• John Browning's classic M1892 action - superb for pistol calibers and extremely STRONG!
This rifle has a lot going for it. I paid $469 for mine and don't regret a penny of it. I LOVE this little sucker!

It's Christmas in August for me, having received a little inheritance from my aunt, I also bought this, which will be here next week:
Winchester/Miroku '92 Ltd. 16" Trapper - .45 Colt

CDNN is currently selling these for just $699, which is as good a deal as you can get on the best new production 92 on the planet. Davidsons commissioned Winchester/Miroku to make just 500 of these in .45 Colt.
