I saw one of the Subjects in a pawn shop week before last and decided to pass on it. It was in about 95% condition and according to my Blue Book (Ed24) wasn't worth near the $399 that they were asking for it. They had it on consignment and said he didn't have any wiggle room. I don't believe the BB most of the time, and esp when it comes to leverguns of odd chamberings. Since I have been collecting the odd ones I just had to buy it but managed to contain myself.
So what do you guys think? Should I have jumped or not?

BMan,
youre right, at least a $100.00 overpriced.
the 24" barrel models bring a premium around here. the 7-30 waters is popular in West Texas. These rifle do not sit on the shelves long around here.
This caliber will likely go the way of the 32 Special and 375 Winchester. Good hunting cartridges that failed to sell well enough to remain in production. Unfair but true.
I'd pass a that price, too. But you might consider offering less. Have a friend go in and offer far less than your price. Then return from time to time to re-affirm your offer. Sometimes this strategy works too.

I think you've confirmed my reluctance to buy this one. The price didn't seem right. I actually ran across this while in a small town in SE Missouri during the July 4th holiday. Didn't think to take a BB along so was going on gut mostly. I imagine it's gone by now and even if it weren't, the FFL transfer fee and shipping would outweigh any kind of deal I could swing at this point. Oh well...maybe next time.
Who needs another Win 94 in an oddball chamber anyway?

Surely I jest! I knew I'd get pinged on that one. Should have known it would be the king of oddball 94s :) ... and I mean that well!
