This is my first post, and I will try to keep it short.
I am looking for a scope for my new Huntsman muzzle loader. I normally buy high end name brand scopes as I know you get what you pay for in optics. However, after this gun is sighted in it will probably not be shot over once or twice a year because I am not really in to muzzleloading. Therefore I am looking for a scope for under $100.00.
I have kind of narrowed my search down to two scopes, a 3x9x40 Bushnell Banner with a circle-x reticle and a Swift Premier in 2x7x40 with crosshairs. The Banner is clearer in the store than most scopes I have compared it to, but the store is not the woods at dusk or dawn. I also like the circle-x reticle. The Swift is alittle higher priced, but I have heard good things about them, and they carry an over-the-counter lifetime warranty which is a plus.
Which would be the best choice for my situation? I know I can spend a little more and get a low-end Leupold or Nikon, but I would like to stay under $100 since I have already bought a new bow and a new rifle this summer.
Thanks in advance for your help! (I wasn't very successful in keeping my first post short, was I?) Sorry!

Hello Bama,

Welcome to the group. Good fellow's here, and they take time to help a man out, if he needs it.

I have had real good luck from Bushnell's, so I think you may be allright, especially if you are not shooting max loads steadily.

My fire snorter this minute is wearing a Simmons, that Dad in law got me for Xmas, and I am not sure if it will work out or not, but I've only had two Simmons scopes and have not generated an opinion about them, as of yet.

I've heard of fellow's that have had luck with tasco's, but I am not one of them. I think I am about 0 for 6 in Tasco rifle/shotgun scopes.

Great success with Leupold and Burris, and I did buy a prostaff Nikon, that is clear and holding up well in its second year of hard service.

Good luck to you friend, and again, welcome. Roll tide!

Steve
