what would be the heaviest .300 win mag bullet you can reload?

i never see any factory ammo above 200grns but im sure u could at least put 220 gr bullets.

just wondering what exactly is the heaviest bullet you cna get and what load would get the max velocity with it?

Hawk Bullets advertises a 250 gr round tip bullet, i wouldn't have a clue about reloading anything that big though.

Fix,

I think Barnes Orginals are bigger than 220 grains to, and if memory serves, 250+.

Can't figure anything penetrating better than a 220 grain Nosler, though.

Good luck.

Recently I made up some 220 grain open point spitzers with bonded cores and loaded them in my .300 Win.Mag. I loaded them to 2660fps and took six animals in Africa with them. Soon I'll be getting RN dies and will be able to make bullets to about 250 grains. They should work well in the .300 Win, Mag. as well. I'd say 220 to 250 grain bullets would be the practical limit for this cartridge.

Hello, Jungli Bains -

Please tell us more of your homemade bonded core open point bullets - what sort of setup do you have for this bullet making?
