I fat-fingered a round and dumped the contents of a charged .45 ACP on my Forster press. I immediately sucked it up in the shop vac. but then started to think that might not be the smartest thing to do. Done often enough, I could accumulate quite a charge in the shop vac. How do you handle little spills? Whisk broom into the garbage can has the same potential. What's the right way to handle these little "oops" things?

A little powder won't hurt in the trash can...are you a smoker? It's not going to explode in the open, only burn fast. Take the powder and sprinkle it on the lawn. It will act like fertilizer.
Isn't a very good idea to suck up powder with a vacuum cleaner - caught myself doing it one day with a cordless handvac and noticed the sparks coming off the rotor inside the casing. Best to use a brush (keep a small cheap paint brush in the gunroom for this purpose) and as suggested toss it out under the bushes or grass - the nitrates make good fertilizer.

I didn't think nitrocellulose was water soluble.
In fact, some of the membrane filters for sub-micron
water filtration at work are nitrocellulose based.

I use a cheap paintbrush as kdub suggested, and then follow up with a damp paper towel. Disposal of dry powder gathered up using the brush is flushed in the commode!
