I am getting a Ruger Bisley in 45 colt and would like some advice on reloading for it. I load for my 44 and really like H110 with a WLP or CCI 350, do you think these components would be agood starting point with the 45 using around a 300gr cast bullet?

Thanks,
Erick

H110 and Magnum primers go hand-in-hand. They'll make a good starting point for heavy .45 loads.

I have the new Ruger Bisley Blackhawk 5 1/2 and I worked up a load using 340gr cast bullets. I use 20gr of H110 in Starline brass, and CCI 350 primers. I use a heavy crimp. Makes 1 inch groups at 25 yards with open sights. Kicks like a light 44 mag, very managable.

Bonco,
Thanks. That is just what I was considering. I shoot a 325gr cast bullet over 21.2gr of H110 in my 44 and love it. The load you mentioned sound just about perfect for my 45. I will work up to it and let you guys know how it shoots.

The Ruger Bisley Blackhawk is a great revolver. I also have one in 45 Colt that I use for hunting whitetail deer. Mine likes a load of 21 grains of H110, CCI 350 primer, Starline case, and a 300 grain cast bullet. It is an accurate and powerful load. Enjoy loading for and shooting your Bisley! :D

A good "light" 300 grain cast load is 16.0 grains of 2400......shoots well in all of my .45 Rugers.

Which 300gr bullet are you using? Depending on the bullet a good light load can quickly become over pressure as some seat much deeper than others.

Using a 310gr LBT with a COL of 1.7", WLP, 7.5" Blackhawk
9.0gr Unique 962 fps
22.0gr H110 1,048 fps
24.0gr H110 1,180 fps

They really get moving when using Lil'Gun 24.0gr of Lil'Gun gets them up to 1,330 fps in the same 7.5" Blackhawk.
