Buddy has one with Harris bipod, two-piece bases and rings. I was with him when he bought it new, and his interests have changed. Wants to trade me for a few things. The Savage is .308 with 26 inch barrel. Anyone familiar with this rifle who can offer input please before I say "OK"?

Ive got two model 10FP's, a 223 and the 308. Mine was made before they put the new triggers in them. I put the Sharp Shooter triggers in'em set to 2lbs and they are both tack drivers. Ive got hand loads worked up for both but they will shoot about anything you put in them. I shot a bunch of military FMJ garbage through that 308 of mine at 150yrds and it put five rounds in a spot the size of a golf ball. Thats when I decided it was a keeper and started working up loads for it. Its not the prettiest gun out there but it is a work horse, and it will get the job done.

His offer is the rifle, Harris bipod, rings and bases with about 200 rounds of late surplus Indian .308. Is the Accutrigger model. How does this sound?

If you can trade for it, and your comfortable with the trade, you wont be disapointed with the rifle.
