I promised I would post a digital picture of it. I have Ruger Large Stainless Steel rings on it along with a Leupold VXIII 3.5-10x 50

I brought it to the range a week ago. I sighted it in 3" over at 100 yds. At 100 yds, it appears to be shooting 2" groups. It performed nearly the same at a 300 yard target. I'm very impressed and satified with my purchase.

Right rifle and right caliber for all big game in North America. Just change out the bullet size for whatever you are shooting and learn to adjust your aim when you have 2 types of bullets loaded in your butt stock bullet sleeve. I carry 220gr. Noslers in my neck of the woods for shots whithin 200 yards. Anything longer then that and they (moose elk deer bear) are not generally running so I have 165gr. Honady interbonds for the longer shots.

Going to Alberta and Saskatchewan for deer and antelope on the prairies so will be building and testing 125 gr. or 130 gr. bullets.

I love my Ruger Stainless and the 300 win mag is enough without the stupidity of the ultramags or monster 30-378 weatherby. Recoil is not an issue with the ruger as I find it a very civilized rifle to shoot. I put a good recoil pad on the stock but only to be able to fire 50 shells at the range. If you are a five shot ("yup the rifle still works") once a year hunter it will never be an issue.

Good choice it is rifle that would be picked by a gentlemen who is confident in his abilities.

Bellhender,

Thanks for your reply. Sorry it has taken me a while to get back to you. Perhaps you could help me a little more with the loads. Please see my newest post under the single shot rifle forus. I bet you have a good answer for this. In the mean time, I may try a 220 gr. nosler.
