I just watched Jurassic Park and thought to myself, I sure would like to go there some day, but before I do I think I would need to add a couple rifles/calibers to my collection.
I was thinking maybe for the Velociraptors that a .338WM or RUM would be fine. But might need a little more on the big boys, e.g. T-Rex, Brachiosaurus, Triceratops, etc. Do y'all think I might need some large African Game calibers or would I need some even bigger. Maybe the .557 T-rex for a Tyranosaur. The problem is, if it gets too big I might not be able to handle the recoil.
Just thought I would see what others thought on this matter.
I definitely think controlled round feed is the way to go.
Thanks.
Think I'd be fast acquiring some of James Gates paradox type shotgun slugs and a Rem M870 with extended tube.

I think the 577 T-Rex round was made for the T-Rex animal, forgetting they are no longer roaming the earth!!!haha.
I would feel best in a tank, with the big 6 inch gun or whatever it is and a belt fed 50BMG bolted in place on the top by the door.

After seeing some of Saeed's friends (some big strong American friends) shooting that T-Rex, I'd forget that thing. Can't kill what you can't hit, and I doubt I could hit anything with that monster. I've been working with a Mauser actioned 500 Jeffery for about 8 months now and it's about all I want to shoot. The rifle weighs in just shy of 10.5 lbs and is a handful with full house loads. A 535 grain Woodleigh at 2400 fps limits my range time to around 10 shots right now. That's about 96 lbs of recoil. I've got some 600 grain solids loaded at 2200 fps and range time goes down to 4 shots before I start feeling "punch drunk".
If I were in Jurassic Park, the 500 Jeff in a good Mauser actioned bolt rifle or something similar in a fine double rifle would be my choice. Given my druthers, I'd probably go for the double rifle.

Long as we are dreaming, may as well make it a 50 Browning quad mount. Old technology, but it gets the job done.

If you can't get the job done with a .458 Win mag, then I suggest a 20mm cannon on wheels. Cannons made for the shoulder are Not going to let you hit your target in the extreme eliment of surprize. A 600 Nitro, 577 or the 500 Jeffery's is like comparing a wooden match to a blow torch. Yup, then you got that real down to earth, reach out and touch something kind of shoulder weapon: A 3.65 rocket launcher! No Sand Flea can indure the results of this projectile coming at them. :D :D :D

I am not sure what all of those are, but I am thinking the missiles/rockets are out of the question, because I am looking to save the meat and maybe a few trophies, I personally have never tried the meat, but I heard it is really good...tastes like chicken.
I suppose I could hunt them like the cavemen did and just sharpen a stick, but I don't think I would be able to find any tame dinosaurs to ride on their backs. I am realizing I have more and more respect for those brave men living in caves.

How 'bout the belt-fed grenade launcher as seen on Mail-Call as a high-power illustration of simple blow-back technology??? Here... Leeezzzaaard, Leeezzzaaard... Leeezzzaaard..... :)

Bought my first .50 BMG rifle when the first Jurasic Park came out. No problem firing off hand, problem was it was only a single shot. I have fired several Barrett M82 .50 semi autos and that would be the ticket. Course couple of M72 LAW rockets for the big stuff.

Was that a 50BMG in the movie Jackal? I haven't seen it in a long while, and when I did I wasn't much interested in guns (lack of funds/guns = lack of interest).

"Several changes of underwear."
One! Then you'd switch to loin clothes like the rest of us.
I think I'd opt for something that throws a large projectile which causes the damage downrange...like something explosive. Granted the new .5000 WSSSSM will probably get the job done but there probably won't be any dentists around in this senario. Besides I don't want a dentist wearing a loin cloth sticking his hands in my mouth anyway...

If you ask nicely, he might be willing to take it off.
