Nice to join this site. I need help already. Has anyone tried to convert an old Remington 742 to a "tactical" rifle. What I mean is I ran across one that has a converted 1100 composite Speedfeed pistol grip stock and forearm. The forearm is off of a 7400. He has a scope, bipod and 10 rd. mag. Anyone try this. I know some mods are needed on the stock and forearm. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Hello, VMass - Welcome to the board. Hope you enjoy your stay and will join in the various discussions on the many forums.

Have no answer to your question - sounds like a general mess to me, but then, I've never been in the "tactical" game and wouldn't know what sort of conversion could be made.

hi,i don't want to upset you on this,i know how much a mans gun meens to him but, given the fact that the 742 is tough to find parts for and so far out of production i would suggest using a 7400,if you what to use your 742 than there are some sources that might help.we have not done any of these type yet for law enforcement,so far just 870's,ar-15's and other basic issue sutff, given the nature of the same layout as on the 870's it is no wonder that some departments are thinking about using the 7400 or 7600(i hope i am getting that corect,if not let me know)as a issue gun.sights, reliability and plastic stocks and sling, scope.basic gunsmith work can do all of the above if wanted, let me know if you want it coated black or OD green,i will wake you a deal.there are enough people here to help you with this so ask away, welcome to the board.
