I was just wondering, if it is possible to use 00 buckshot in place of smaller shot in reloading?

I am looking at several different reloading books and for most of them they are showing to use card type and fiber type wads for loading buckshot, I am just wondering if you could load them using the regular plastic type wads since 9 00 buck shot weigh 486 gr and a 1 1/8 oz load weighs 492 gr.

Since you can load the following sizes into the 1 1/8 oz load, 9, 8, 7.5, 6, 4, etc, why can you not load the 00 buck?

Is it because with the plastic wad you can not fit all 9 in or some other reason?

Thank You

There's a few listed. The Federal hunting shell with the paper base wad is your best bet. From Lyman #4, page 265. Winchester 209 primer, 36.0 grains Blue Dot, Winchester WAA12R wad, 12 pellets 00 buck.

In Reloading for Shotgunners, #4, page 305, Federal hunting shell, Federal 209A primer, 9 pellets 00 Buck.
Federal 12S3 wad, 37.0 to 40.0 grains Hodgdon HS-6 powder, or 27.5 to 30.5 grains Hodgdon Universal clays powder.

Also, as above, but with the Federal 12S4 wad, 38.0 to 40.0 HS-6 powder.
