I bought a new Hastings 12 gauge Paradox replacement barrle for my 870 that misfires now, you probably have seen my other problem posting. Well I cant get the gun to go bang all the time, also I cant get Sabots to shoot good groups. I can get cheap Federal Rifled slugs to hold a nice group at 50 yards, all 5 shots touch each other. Figure that out. I am ready to give up hunting and shooting and go golfing. My luck, the clubs will melt in my hands.

I think you have a Headspace problem, no not the one between your ears. It sounds like the shell head is falling into the chamber too far. The primer is not getting a good strike. Look at the fired cases, and see if they look like ones fired from your regular barrel. If they are lightly indented, call Hastings and send it back. You might want to find out the twist rate also, I thought the Hastings are 1 in 34. Most Sabot Ammunition shoots best in 1 in 28. I am Partial to CCS sabots from Gun Servicing. They built my custom slug gun, and I am very pleased with it. Both my father, and grandfather had one built after seeing mine. Greg Sappington

Greg, the problem I have is the gun is not cocking all the time. I did have a new firing pin put in also. I think the trigger assembly is bad or the slide lock. I was going to swap my trigger with a 870 express 20 gauge. IT fits do you think it will work. Also I am going to put my factory barrel back on and see what happens. Let me know what you thing about the trigger swap.

I did not realize the gun was notcocking. I would not bother with a gunsmith, send it to Remington. They might be able to save you the troubleshooting time. Greg
