Hello, Friends. I'm looking for input on the best LBT design for an all-around heavy .45 Colt load. I want something in the neighborhood of 300-325 gr., that will do well at 1000-1100 fps for general plinking and woodsbumming, but with enough "umph" to punch a whitetail cleanly. I also would like for it to be accurate to 100 yards, or a little more, for rock-busting. I have a 325 WLN that Veral cut me years ago, but it needs to be pushed fast to do its best. Any ideas about your favorite bullet and load for this application would be appreciated. Thanks very much! Regan

Why such a heavy bullet for whitetail? You would do better with a maximum bullet weight of maybe 270 grains, such as the RCBS 45-270. LBT moulds are neat, but I honestly feel he's priced himself out of the market. At least my market. ==Bob

The 300gr. WFN from Beartooth, but recoil is up there.
Something lighter - RCBS 270gr. SAA mould, still plenty of medicine for Bambi.

I like the 300 grain WFN over 20 grains of H110 in my Blackhawk. I get 1100 FPS out of my 4 5/8" barrel. This load and bullet wokrs like a champ on everything from coyotes to Elk and the recoil is not bad. In my Linebaugh 5 shot Bisley I use 325 to 395 grain LFNGC but the recoil is faster.
