Finally found the time to get to range today. I hand loaded some semi-hot 250 gr. loads and the recoil was modest. I also shot the Mag Tech 260gr. and the recoil was stiff but very managable. I thought the recoil would be more , but I am satisified I won't even notice it when I shoot at a deer. I would like to install a peep sight as my eyes are not what they use to be. I was thinking about removing the safety then tap threads to make a screw-in type peep. I wonder if anyone else has tried this? I really dislike most of the peep sights on the market today, to big and bulky for the clean lines of this rifle. I know the gun does not come with a warrenty, but I would still would want it to be safe. The .454 20" barrel with ten shots is one powerful gun. I like it very much, but I need better sights.

Just curious if anyone here has tried these .454's with .45 colt loads. I'm looking for a decent all around lever action rifile, and one that could digest anythign from soft .45 colt cowbow loads up to hot .454's seems like it would do it. There seems to be some concern about the .454 pressures in these guns, but I'd really just be looking for a .45 colt cowbow gun with the option of shooting .454's in. Any opinions? I'm VERY new to the lever gun thing!

My 92 feeds and shoots .45 Colt beautifully. Just remember, after you shoot the .45 Colt, clean the barrel thoroughly before shooting the .454.
