Saw one when I was driving to the range this morning but still haven't had the oppurtunity to hunt them. Got bigger things to hunt. I run the range for my unit almost every morning from 0600-0730. Its not getting light enough now til about 0640 so I shoot with NVGs (M4 or M14) or use the Surefire on my M4. Running stress shoot tomorrow morning that combines alot of targets that you have to identify as either shoot/no-shoots, hard cover on targets, bad guys between no shoots, and you have to use proper tactics (ie use cover) plus I'll be loading their first mag with some live rounds and a spent casing to induce stoppages!
Then Friday is another convoy down IED alley.

Sounds like you have a fun job CD. How many of them actually get confused when the gun chambers the spent casing ?

Some guys lose focus and others take care of the problem without a stutter. You can see the level of experience.

Been there done that in another war (Vietnam). My wife works at Darnall Army Hospital at Fort Hood. They bring in about 60 or more wounded in every Friday. After being out of a war for a while, it is pretty obvious that is **** dangerous place.

I fired M-16A1 in SE Asia at distances greater than 300 M and discovered that despite doctrine it was effective with a good shot past 300 M although not in M-14 (7.62 mm) capability.

I wish that we would have had M4's. I had a CAR15 liberated from an ally that was great for 100 M or so. It was even better in that it did a nice job being compact.
