I'm off on my annual Canadian deer hunt in a couple of weeks. Last year we had extra paperwork concerning the Mad Cow disease. We had to fill out a "Hunter-harvested wild ruminant meat" form and present it with our deer meat at the border. Is this still going on? Anyone come back across the border with game this year? Any new rules to worry about/plan for?

Hey Tundra,
It troubles me to see two countries with so many ties bickering, and I certainly don't claim to understand the issues in their entirity so I'll post this attachment and let you be the judge. However, I do not believe that the article reflects the attitude of most folks that I know.

Anyhow, it probably wouldn't hurt to check with your guide for more precise info.

Hope you have a good and safe hunt!
Welcome to Canada! :)

A friend of mine just got back from a moose / bear hunt, and I believe he did bring back some moose meat. Not sure about the procedure, didn't ask him for details, sorry.

Does seem like it's possible, though.
