Any one know were I can get special cleaning kits?
My CETME is a pain in the rump to clean, and I can not properly clean every thing, due to the fact I can not reach all areas.
I swear the firearm was never designed for proper cleaning, and not much thought was given for keeping dirt out.
I shudder to thinck that the poor Spanyards have it as a military weapon!

Will have to put your own kit together....but are some tools that are helpful. From the grocery store: a baby bottle brush does a pretty good job on the stripped action. IF you could find a test-tube cleaning brush, would work pretty well to clean the flutes in the chamber with a dog-leg bent into the wire handle to enter the ejectiopn port....not likely to find one locally, but can substitute a worn bottle bursh.

They do sell this kind of chamber bursh (with brass birstles), and it works great.

A couple of kid's tooth brushes are helpful in reaching odd corners...an adult size is alomost as good (and a good excuse to buy a new tooth brush).

From the drug store: the bing long cotton swabs. Can always make them with wooden skewers, patching, and tape, but the pre-mades are pretty handy....will be use full in getting into corners and swabing up excess solvent or lube.

My suggestion.... keep it simple. This isn't a Holland & Holland double rifle we're talking about.

Can of brake cleaner.
Can of Wipe-out bore foam.
Bore-snake, .30 cal
Some patches to wipe off the fingerprints on the outside.
Maybe some dry lube to spray back into the action (Hornady One Shot, Rem-Dry, etc.).

Clean the bore with the foam, pull the bore snake through. Hose out the action with brake cleaner (do this outside). Shot of dry lube in the action. Wipe off fingerprints, etc.

Shoot, and repeat as necessary. That's probably more care than it was ever going to see in service.

Don't know if the bore-foam will do a good job cleaning the gas system, though. But that's where I'd start.

Hope this helps. Just some thoughts I had....... nothing wrong with Ribbonstone's suggestions, either.
