Thibaud:
Have no fear about your spelling, there's plenty here in the US that consistantly mangle the Queens English with determination.
Have you started to use cast bullets in your rifles?

Welcome. I think that there have been a few shooters from France on the forum, but can't recall any names at the moment.
Half of us can't spell any better. Hope you enjoy it here.
Chris Wildhunter lives in France and hangs out at MarlinOwners.com. At present he is looking for a place to open his gun shop. He is a lever gun addict and a pleasure to read.
Welcome,
Dave :p

Welcome 13. I live in SC, USA on the east coast. I have a M44 Mosine. Shoots bad but I am having fun time trying to get it to shoot better. Cast bullets will be good to try after a fire lapping job.
Good shooting.

Thibaud, bon jour! Comment allez vous? Excuse moi. My French is very bad. Many years ago I helped a nice French lady find her flight at Kennedy (New York) airport. I think I've forgotten most of it now. Tell us about gun ownership in France. Aux revoir. sundog

what do you mean by telling you about gun ownership in france? sorry i dont understand;
Chief RID i'm amazed your mosin shoots bad as all the mosin i've seen including mine are pretty accurate, do you handload? if you do , use a chronograph and try to reach speed around 700m/s to keep a good acuracy, but dont go over 740m/s, try bullet casting it works well with mine I use a LEE mold for 303 british (.312) and recalibrate it in .311 as most russian mosin nageat are in .311, use reduced load. I uses a shotgun powder over here but it's a french powder (SNPE A0) i dont know what powder are used in the US. use gas-checks. 450 / 500 M/s seems to be the best speed, with my MAS36, K31 and Mosin i dont get out of the 9 at 100meters (109yards),
wear safety glasses with mosin-nageant i often get gas in the eyes with mine, i figured out that i was not the only one!!!

I have not experienced the blowback gas problem yet with my Mosine but I will continue to use eye protection at the range. I have only used Varget as a powder for handloading and I have used all the different sizes of jacketed bullets to increase accuracy, without success. I have not tried cast yet or reduced loads. The surplus ammo shoots a little better than my handloads. I think they are Portugese or something.
My barrel is really poor but I keep working on it. I think it has enough rifling to do the job but it is severely corroded and seems to continue to corode. It may be to far gone.

you can polish it i use "car scratch eraser" (i hope youll understand that), this often give back acuracy
