View Full Version : Tyler "T" grip adapter fit
I have a Ruger Security Six and the local gunshop was blowing out their grip adapters. Since I can't get aftermarket grips for my early Sec Six, I thought this would be a nice addition. Problem is, the adapter fits poorly, it seems like it was designed to fit on a gun without grips. With the grips on the gun, the adapter is pushed away from the gripframe, and looks kind of goofy, if you look closely at it. It is still solid, doesn't feel like it will move. Has anyone else used these grip adapters, and if so how did they fit? Could it be that the adapter is designed for the later Sec Sixes with the different grip frame shape?
Thanks
Andy
ps I double checked the model number of the adapter, and it is made for a Sec Six.

I use them on some concealment guns where the smallest possible non-sticky (rugger) grip is wanted. They did make one for the old Ruger Security Six grip profile.
IF the rear of the grip adaptor is following the curve of the stocks and there is no gap, it's proably the right one. Are not as thick as the grips (at least on the Ruger...are about as thick as the old S&W J-frame stocks). Be sure it is pulled up as high as it will go.
I do tend to grease the frame and stocks, put two small "blobs" of epoxy on the front and rear (inside) section of the adaptor, put it in place, and let it cure. Remove it (which is why you greased the frame and stocks) and trim off the excess. Just gives it a more secure fit.
