Why is it so hard to get out the door every year?
The bad news: Here I am holding a deer license 10 days into the season and I haven't set foot in the woods. Hunting gear is scattered all over the garage in an unorganized mess.
The good news: Thank goodness the knives are sharp, the rifle is zeroed, permits are in my wallet, and I know where my orange vest is. And I am free all day.
Mission for today: Get out the door! Last chance to spend a few hours looking for deer before it closes Thursday. And elk season starts Friday morning.
The BEST news: From 5 pm Thursday until next Tuesday morning I am in the timber chasing elk!
I suppose I should be thankful that deer season comes the first two weeks of October and serves as a wake-up call so I am actually organized for elk season the last two weeks.
