I shoot a .357 mod 27 in steel plate/pin matches and the only handicap I have is 6 shots vs 7-8 that some of the competition has. Each stage has 5 targets...so if I'm on I have a one shot margin to knock over any missed targets. On a good day I can clear 5 tables with a total of 25 shots. Some days I have 4-5 missed targets...1-2 extra shots would be nice. I haven't shot any running deer targets...sounds fun!

I have done the running deer with my rifle in the past you get 75 yards to fire four shots from 100 yards offhand (pistols are 50 yards). The course of fire is slow run (20 mph) standing then fast run (25) The target is a 3/4 size deer with a bullseye over the heart area. you can see a picture of how the target is scored at the top of this page http://www.mindspring.com/~jwking/uafg-rd.html
I will have to see if i can find a steel plate/bowling pin match in my area.
