NEWTOWN, Conn. - Billionaire George Soros will debate a representative
from the firearm industry's trade association, the National Shooting
Sports Foundation, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, at the Harrisburg Hilton
Hotel, One North Second Street, beginning at 9 a.m. tomorrow (Tuesday,
October 19) on the issues involving his funding frivolous lawsuits
against firearm manufacturers and his long-standing support of anti-gun
groups, both in America and internationally. The debate is open to the
public and all media.
"The American public, and gun owners in particular, are entitled to know
why George Soros wants to rip the Second Amendment out of our
Constitution, ban worldwide the private ownership of firearms and to
destroy the U.S. firearm industry through 'junk' lawsuits," said Keane.
"Soros is spending his fortune to finance the destruction of the
American firearm industry through predatory lawsuits and to install a
president who will allow the United Nations to rewrite our gun laws and
delete the Second Amendment from the Constitution," added Keane.
Soros has contributed over $15 million of his personal fortune to defeat
the re-election of President George W. Bush. Soros is also the primary
financier of frivolous litigation against the firearm industry and
efforts to institute a worldwide ban on the civilian ownership of
firearms through organizations such as the United Nations.
"Hunters and shooters in Pennsylvania should know that Senator Kerry,
who professes to be a friend to sportsmen but whose voting record puts
him solidly in the gun control camp, is being endorsed for president by
Mr. Soros, a rabid anti-gunner," said Keane. "Mr. Soros's actions work
against the rights of law-abiding gun owners and firearm industry
companies that make legal, non-defective products. His actions also work
against badly needed tort reform to prevent frivolous lawsuits. He and
Senator Kerry are no friends to Pennsylvania sportsmen."
