Just got a box of these little beauties to play with the rabbits a bit. Anybody able to tell me what they are like. I have heard they actually break up when they hit causing more damage to the target. The little 33gr green tipped hornady's look the part for sure. Will try them on larger game too but I got a box of winchester 40gr hollow points for them as I was looking for some penetration power.
Any comments appreciated.

DOn't think you're going to find the 33's will penetrate all that deeply. From what I've seen (not running any semi-scientific testing, just shooting things and looking at the results) if it's under 75-100yards, the Rem. 33's expand sooner and penetrate a bit less deeply than the tradtional 40gr. JHP's. Make a bigger "splash" but less depth.
At close range (where cotton tails would be hunted...jackrabbits may be a differnt story) either the 33's or the 40's tend to fragment a bit on impact...often they completely fragment and all you can dig out are small chunks and flakes (often the biggest chunk is the now mostly empty jacket).
Can be wonderfully accurate and are a great choice for smaller bodied game taht offers little resitance for bullet expansion.

THats what I thought. We get only 30 yards or so away from rabbits anyway so they will be fine for them and possibly feral cats as well. The JHP's are fine penetration wise for larger things but i wanted something a bit more for hitting small critters. Though I will have to use them sparingly. $28 AUD for a box of 50. eek! Might not be worth the cost.
