Is there any difference in the frames of Colt SAA (and clones) which use 1 piece grips instead of 2 piece grips? Is one better than the other or is it just a matter of personal taste?

Thanks

You probably know the answer to your post by now but in case you don't. . .There is no difference in the frames of the '73 single action Colts or their clones due to one or two piece grips. Grips are purely a personel preference. Most of the standard wood grips on the imported Colt clones are one piece and seem to hold up well. I have standard Colt wood grips on my 3rd generation single action Colt and they are two pieced. Removing one piece grips requires detaching the backstrap and three screws. Removing two piece grips only requires removal of the grip screw. My response does not apply to Rugers.

Thank you. Any chance you could post pics?

Sorry, I don't own a digital camera but you can find some good exploded views of the Colt single action on the Uberti or VTI gunparts web sites. The parts on many Colt clones are very faithful to the original Colt design. Hope this helps.
