I have had my Walther P22 for about 18 months, and have fired at least 18,000 rounds through it, mostly at a range. It is a great little plinking gun. I consistently shoot 2" or better groups at 25 feet - nothing to brag about, but I enjoy it.

I was very dismayed today when I started shooting. The group was, but was about 5" to the right. I checked to see if the barrell nut had worked loose, but it hadn't. I kept nudging the rear sight over until it was finally all of the way to the left, and at first even that only corrected it about half way. Even moving the target to about 8' gave me groups to the right.

I stripped down the gun, and removed the barrel, and reassembled it. That did seem to help a little, why I don't know, but even with the rear still all of the way to the left, it still groups 1 - 1 1/2" to the right.

Nothing unusual has happend to the gun, such as dropping it, just lots and lots of use. Can anyone make any sense of this? It's very frustrating!

Thanks for any help.

Randy

Took my wife's apart just so I'd have the gun in my lap as I type this. Only two things i can think of (or see with the gun in hand) could mechanically casue this.
1. The muzzle got bured, dinged, or squished out of shape.
2. Somehow that barrel is seating out of line.

For that last, the barrel runs through a block that is part of the right frame wall (freame is a twi pices "sandwitch" of alloy which fits into the syn. grip frame). Fi that barrel mounting block were to crack, it would allow the barrel to move to the side to the limit of the barrel's fit to the slide.

Personally, I'd think the first mechanical casue would be the more likley...but you can check the frame for cracks as well.

COULD be human error

I had to put a small drop of loctite (blue) on the nut that holds the barrel in. It was loosening up every shooting session.

Thanks - I'll check for these two things. As I mentioned, the gun hasn't been dropped, so I don't know what else could cause muzzle problems. I will take it apart and look for a crack.

I've heard of others using loc tite to secure the barrell, but I just check the barrel periodically.

I appreciate the replies.
