I have a S&W .32 cal. Safety Hammerless. serial # 46XXX. Can anyone tell me if there is an over the counter or over the internet black powder cartridge I can buy to fire from this gun. It is in safe to fire condition, but was told these guns were for black powder pressures only.
Thanks,
Frank (mountianfire)

In good condition, can use very light smokeless loads. The factory loads are supose to be BP pressure.
One thing for sure, the last 110-120 years hasn't made these revolvers any stronger.
Have a S&W .32 Double Action Third model (1882) and a .32 Single Action of the same era (and a couple of .38SW's)....I've shot some factory .32SW in them, but use either reloaded BP rounds or very light smokeless loads (why not...they are just for fun, not for serious use).
Your serial number comes about in the middle of the first model run...1880-1902, so call it the late 1890s.
Nope...don't know of any .32SW BP commercial loads.

I just shoot wax bullets out of mine, course the bore has considerable pitting, but it works for me
