You can buy recoil pads from sporting good stores that are advertised to fit right out of the package. Results are very mixed on weather they fit or not.

I'm retired now, but I ran a gunsmith shop for 25 years. My suggestion is that you take it to a gunsmith and have a limbsaver recoil pad installed by a gunsmith. Those pads really work great and they look and fit right done this way.

I never have understood why a person with a thousand or more dollars invested in a rifle and scope would put on an after market recoil pad that did not fit the gun, i.e. it changes the length of pull, it is just a little to small or large, etc. I have seen this done time and time again out at the rifle range.

Now I'm not saying that all aftermarket pads don't fit the rifles they were intended for, it's just that I have seen pads bought off the shelf that do not fit.

I personally have limbsavers installed on all my high recoiling guns and both of the guns my grandaughters shoot. Most of the aftermarket pads are available that can be installed by a gunsmith or you and then sanded to fit. Doing this makes the pad look exactly like the factory installation. Another advantage of doing this is that the gunsmith will usuall adjust it to the correct length of pull for you.

I hope this helps you out
