Is the sight slot on the puma 92 standard 3/8 inch dove dail? I ordered a marbles slot blank after I installed my tang sight and removed the standard rear sight and the slot blank is too small. It just slides in and out of the slot.

As you've found out, Rossie uses a larger than common dovetail...I've not measured it, so can't report it's exact size.
Can make it work. Cutting/filing/fitting a steel shim to the BOTTOM of the rifle dovetail will in effect force the sight to fit higer...into the narrow top part of the dovetail...where it will work fine. Doen't need to be coldered or otherwisse attached to the bottom of the dovetail...if it's fitted tight, driving in the sight will lock it in place and the sight willb e secure.
Use to be able to buy feeler guage sets cheaply at auto supply stores...not may things in a modern car need a feeler guage to set them, so they've become more expensive. Use to buy the cheap gauges and use them as steel shim stock.
Good thing about this fiz is that it doesn't change either the rifle's dovetail or the sight's....can reverse it without leaving a sign it was done.

Thanks for the info. I thought I had a bad slot blank. As you've found out, Rossie uses a larger than common dovetail...I've not measured it, so can't report it's exact size.

cpopp,
I have the same problem with my Rossi. I tried the shim and it worked sorta. But I can't get it to really work right. Even with the shim one good bump and out it comes.
Williams makes a sight dovetail blank with a set screw in it. I'm going to order one of those and give it a try.
