Just taking a minute to ask a question or two of a couple of you guys in the know. One of my friends will have the second of his four sons (one who also served in the first gulf war) going to Iraq after Christmas. One son is there now with the First Air Cav now.
This bore snake business has got me thinking and looking through my favorite catalog: Brownells. I was wondering what else might be welcomed as supplementry gear. The first thing I thought of was a Mark Brown Carbon Scraper. The next thing that I saw was flared Mag Well that affixes around the standard mag well without defaceing the rifle via 3 set screws. (This of course would have to have a small tube of blue Loctite to keep the screws from loosening - but still be removeable at end of his tour.) These items, and a BoreSnake all sound good.
Can any of you guys with firsthand experiece give me other suggestions? I have only put a few rounds through a M16, and don't have hard use experience. I only had to qualify with a S&W 38. Let me hear if you guys see anything else in Brownells that might make a good present! Something has got to be better than sending supplementry eats. Let's hear from those who have been there.
