For what?

The Ruger single-actions are pretty tough..... although not necessarily the best choice for everything.

For hunting it is superb. I have both the SA SuperB and the Redhawk DA and for hunting it is six of one, half dozen of another. Since in hunting you shoot mostly SA anyway, and with a .44 magnum you can shoot a SA as quick as you can a DA if you know how, the only advantage I can see with the DA is quicker reloads. The Ruger SA is among the best there is for a reasonable price. In fact, the only one I would rather have is the Freedom Arms at three times the price of the Ruger.

I love my superblackhawlk 44mg. I hope to take a deer with it this season. If your looking for a hunting gun, it don't get much better. Mine is pretty accurate too, so I shot it a lot at the range, with the 7.5" barrel, the recoil isn't too bad.
