Believe that would be the smooth bore barrel...and a patched .550" Round ball would be the apropriate starting point. Track of the Wolf has been easy to deal with and responsive...they ahve teh round ball in stock.

If you measure the grooves on a .54 you'll find they are .56 and a .530 or .535 rb will work with the proper patch.

that's true...but belive the "SB" would be for smooth bore (which is required in some hunting areas), so it's actaully a true .56....and a .550" ball with a .012-.015"" patch would proably work better.

keep in mind that you also have a 28 ga. shotgun where standard wads/shotcups work with 3/4 oz of shot...very handy for small game

Well I guess I am not the only one with a .56 T/C. From what I have been told by a bunch of old timers, is that the .56 was indeed a .54 with the rifiling removed. Reason being thaty in Ma the first few years of muzzle loading deer season were smooth bore only. Rather than make a new gun T/C just reamed the rifiling out of there .54. I absoloutly love mine(a gift from a good friend) and it is a .28 gauge scattergun. It has pieplate accuracy to 100 yards(good enough in the thick brush up here)and at 50 yards it is dead on. I shoot a .550 round ball with a prelubed T/C .010 patch over 110 grains of Pyrodex RS. Finding balls can be a pain, so if you find a .550 mold snap it up( I got one from the local mom and pop store). It is good knowing I am not the only one with a .56.

Hey BigBlue...Too bad i recieved your answer so late.. I sold the T/C a while ago on line. After reading about the accuracy I'm kicking my self. Any way i bought a CVA since and like that. I'm fromt the Worcester area. You?

I am in Plymouth( I do go to Worcester once in a while to visit the Used Tool Store). Selling the .56 would be hard for me because it was a gift. I am picking a .54 renegade up this week with a Lyman peep sight on it for $150. I can't wait to see how the rifliled one shoots(sabot rounds and all). How do you like the CVA? I was brought up with T/C, made in NH and all.
