I like it!!!!!

Seen a few pictures of similar custom chop jobs on Super Redhawks over at the Sixgunner forum; finally, a Super that doesn't weigh a ton! :D

Anybody see the new Ruger single actions on the old small flat-top frame? Looks like Ruger has woken up to the CAS craze, finally..... (vaquero notwithstanding).

Are they nuts? IMO that thing is about as useless as S&W's 3" .500 (yes, I know they say it is 4" but it's not, there are only 3 inches of barrel and one inch of brake). You will never in a million years convince me that a 4 to 5 inch barrel is not just as easy to carry, and if one cannot carry the extra couple of ounces an additional two inches of barrel adds he needs to do some weight training. You do lose a lot of velocity, you increase blast tremedously, and they are not even legal to hunt with in states that have barrel length limits like Indiana does of 4 inches. You would be much better served with a 4 or 5 inch barrel IMO and if you really think you need a back up piece, a revolver of any caliber is a pretty poor choice. Better than nothing, but still an also ran to a heavy rifle or slug gun loaded with Dixieslugs.
Sorry, but this new short barrel big bore revolver craze is just that to me, plain crazy.
Oh well though, to each his own, I don't like them but then I guess I don't have to buy one, do I?

Pretty neat weapon there. I don't want one but I am sure there are plenty who do. Imagine the muzzle blast! Picture shooting that rascal after dark? I strongly disagree with a revolver as a bad choice for a back-up weapon. I have seen plenty of jams with semi-auto's and other problems too. I have no qualms about a revoler for personal protection or hunting gun. To each their own though, I think I would rather be shot with a nine than that super redhawk there though. God bless and enjoy.

I like it. I'm not sure whether or not I'll buy one. I need a couple of the Anniversary Flattops first. I'm thinking one 357 and the other converted to 44 Special.

No reason to get personal guys. Just discussing a new product.

Well 338, we are on the same page. I love it. I was actually thinking to myself this morning as I was cleaning my Ruger 454 "how cool would it be to lop the barrel off flush with the lug" Then Viola here is a pic of it less than a few hours later. I think the Barnes-X would be a perfect match to this gun, as the max loaded 250gr X-bullet kicks less than a 44mag in my opinion. Sweetness (as long as the price isnt outragous) I would hope that it would be less than $700-750.

You guys are masochists!!!!

Think I'll leave the skin between my eyes and forehead in one piece without front sight blade impressions! :p

The $819 MSRP on the Alaskan isn't too bad considering the street price will considerably less. A whole lot less than what the Smiths are selling for, that's for sure.

May not have much real world use, but can promise that it would be great at moving people away from you at the range. That by itself is sometimes reason enough...can think of it as self defence if the guy to your left is dinking ejected cases off your head with his 9mm (ever get caught between two shooters, the guy on the left with a mal-adjusted Colt 45 and the guy on the right with a Walther P-38?).

I have a 5 shot SS Tarus Mod 415 in .41 Mag with a 2 1/2" ported barrel that weighs 28 ozs. The new price at CDNN was $260. I think it is a great compromise between size and power. I bought it to carry on an Alaskan fishing trip. I now have a SS 5 1/2" Ruger Bisley in .45 Colt, but I still like the little .41 in consol, backpack, or coat pocket. Good luck.

I love it. I have been wanting Ruger to think outside of their box for a long time. I hope that front sight sight can be changed because it looks too short. I'm saving more than pennies.

They should offer it in .44 magnum too. Imagine it with a lightweight alloy frame, too. Ruger doesn't comprehend that "lightweight" word.

I'm not sure when but I'm sure I'll end up with one. It will probably end up as one of my most useless but treasured guns.

Ruger also doesn't build guns that won't shoot any factory ammo, they also build their guns extra strong. S&W build some wonderful lightweight guns and then stick ammo restrictions on them, either that or they shoot loose and need costly repairs. I own both but they have different purposes so I am not bashing one for the sake of the other. Just the facts. Sean

I always remember what Jeff Cooper said about magnums: they need a long runway to get up to airspeed.
I'd rather shoot 'em with a bullet than blind and burn 'em with muzzle blast, thank you.
