Old TV show called "Spenser For Hire" had a fellow with a

nickel plate revolver. Was this a Colt Python, Anaconda, or

just what, and was this a 6" or 8" barrel?

Hawk was played by Avery Brooks....great character too..
I beleive hawk had a couple of guns in the show, one gun was a .357 magnum Python the other a .44 magnum Anaconda. Think they were both 8 inchers too.

Hawk was great! Avery Brooks (who later starred as the commander on "Deep Space Nine") was a very shady character but loyal to Spenser. My favorite scene, viewed through the murky recesses of my memory, involved a man who pulled a handgun and fled out a door. Hawk was only a few seconds away, and as he prepared to give chase, a woman warned, "Be Careful! He has a gun!". Hawk pulled that eight-inch Nickled Python out of a shoulder holster, and growled, "That's okay.............mine's bigger!" :D

Avery Brooks lives in Franklin Township, NJ, and teaches acting at Rutgers. Just an FYI.

If you like the Hawk character, you should read the books. Robert B. Parker's written 20 or so Spenser novels- much better than the TV show, IMO.
