Hi I am a Cowboy action shooters and because of a recent hand injury I am very interested in a pump rifle as it is difficult to work the lever.
I understand that the AWA version has lots of problems. What about the USFA pump maybe much better. I would love to get it in a 38-40 but would settle for a 45 long colt.
What are the reports, are their rifles reliable? Thanks

Tarus site has some information about an expected pump action that looks pretty close to the Colt Ligntning...haven't seen one in real life, and it wouldn't be the first time a gun was announced and never showed up in real life...but it amy be worth trying as the price is predicted to be "almost reasonable".

Had a buddy in the late 1960's and early 1970's taht was collecting Ligtenings (were a lot to collect with 3 frame sizes and various calibers)...back then, were not high demand items and the prices were acceptable....not so toay for originals.

OF the ones he collected, his two shooters were a 25-20 and a 38-40...and like you, belive a 38-40 would be just about ideal for that rifle.
